ReviewPlays.com – REVIEW – “The Shoe Show”

Picture 2

If you ever wonder what kind of a mind would dream up a show that deals with “Shoes”, wonder no more.  Edie Magoun is the wunderkind who concocted the zany sketch show that features half a dozen beautiful, sexy and talented women doing things so crazy, that their mothers would probably deny any connection to them.  Not only does Edie give the audience a glimpse of crazy things women do – she shows how men behave, and the dolls dress up like guys to do devastating lampoons on men’s behavior.  It if wasn’t so true, it would be downright hysterical.  OK – so its only sidesplitting

Of course, like any sketch show, some bits work better than others and some should have never seen the light of day, but by and large Edie has her finger right on the nerve center, and she knows just where to push to cajole laughs.  An early laffer was the “Custody Battle” where a grotesque populace couple comes before a judge, yelling and arguing about what a good parent the other one is.  Each parent tries to put himself/herself down as the other screams the virtues of the other partner.  The judge is disgusted that they are so good . . . . (go figure)

The PU was a hilarious Porno Shoot where the action is interrupted by a Porno Union representative who reads a litany of do’s and don’ts for actors – making special mention of regulations for actors who spend time on their knees.

Gummy Bear is a rapper, and Kyra Grover nails the moves, the talk, the walk and everything about today’s rapper, who has a shoe endorsement for everything from “going to the bank to save money shoe” to a going to “take out the trash” shoe.  While everyone is great, Kyra seemed to have the best parts, as she also does a terrific job as a not-too-bright common type guy later in the show.

The provocative flyer shows the sexy Troupe and warns about an R rating because of nudity.   When the “nude scene” comes up, it’s a total departure from normalcy – and one is left with the nagging question – - – what makes them think it’s an “endowment” ?  You’ll have to see the show to figure that out.

The pace is fast, the songs are funny, the dialog is often sidesplitting and in spite of the costumes, the wigs, the fake mustaches and the raunchy attitudes, these gals are great to look at and fun to watch.

This is a fun show, and you’ll definitely see shoes from a different angle after this.
